Malone draws his information from Irish Film Institute production notes for films as well as old magazines and newspapers. Malone examines the relationship between actresses and John Wayne her director John Ford and also connections between actresses and John Ford. O'Hara, despite being a symbol of the Golden Age of Cinema, is a mystery because of her tendency to be secretive and make public declarations which contradict her personal decisions.
